PARADISE LOST Rumored To Have Split With EMI, Hard At Work On New Material
February 18, 2002PARADISE LOST are strongly rumored to have been dropped by EMI Records prior to the recording of the group's as-yet-untitled ninth full-length studio album. When contacted by BLABBERMOUTH.NET and asked to confirm or deny the reports, band manager Andy Farrow of Northern Music Co. offered a simple “no comment” and indicated that the group were still in the pre-production stage for the upcoming CD, which is tentatively due to be released in September.
PARADISE LOST have released two records through EMI (1999's Host and 2001's Believe In Nothing) following a four-album stint with Music For Nations Records, which had produced some of the band's most critically-acclaimed and commercially-successful offerings to date. Although expectations were high for the group's EMI Records debut, Host was a largely critically-panned (albeit musically strong) album that was only marginally made up for by its follow-up release, which marked a return to a more guitar-based sound for the band.
Prior to the split with EMI, PARADISE LOST had completed the initial pre-production sessions for the follow-up to Believe In Nothing with producer John Pennington, who had previously acted as the group's live engineer, and were most recently looking for someone else to man the knobs during the upcoming recording sessions, which are likely to take place at a UK studio in the spring. Among the known titles that are set to appear on the forthcoming CD are the following:
01. My Religion
02. Two Worlds
03. Promises
We will have more information on PARADISE LOST's upcoming plans as it becomes available.
